I spent the tail end of the year working on a unified shader system for my projects that utilises several advanced features including livery overlays and pom / detail mapping.
The system uses a mix of material functions and optional material layers to let you intelligentially layer up materials as little or as much as you need. along with every layer taking vertex painted information into account so wear layers wont inherit detail mapping from the base material for example.
This shader system also uses an improved and refined version of my Pom shader to give some pretty spicy results.
The system currently still uses tiling and panel textures as inputs as that's my personal method of working, however I'm looking at adding switches for tri-planar mapped base materials at a later date so I have to do less unwrapping!
I've also got a substance design package so creating textures that are packaged correctly is super fast.
I'm weighing up whether to package it up and put it on Fab. Would anyone be interested in that?
